Yeah, we can. It'll probably have sections for a variety of games with a focus on a few main ones, I guess.

Personally, I say we stay the Online Brawl Community. It just has a nice ring to it, and really, just because we have brawl in the title doesn't mean we ONLY play brawl. After all, a brawl is a fight, so it's kind of an all-inclusive title for fighting games.

Now, if we were the Online Smash Community, then you'd have a point, but I say we stay OBC.

Lee, I see what you're saying, but think about this. We haven't had a main event for a month. We gave approximately two weeks notice for this one. And we ended up with three people signed up (including me). And one of them didn't show.

So, of course, it was canceled. Just like the last one, where two people showed up. So as much as I'd like to think that this site is about brawl, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

but yeah on topic, I Remember joining OBC 2 weeks before brawl was released. what led the momentum and sucess of OBC, was the hype and how fun brawl was. everyone was still getting use to the game as wifi battles raged everywhere, but as Brawl's momentum wore down, so did the influence of OBC. Maybe moving to a general Fighthing game forum(especially how popular Blazblue is atm) will give us that boost again to be more active and grant us more members. cmon, this is one kickass community. no way are we gonna let this one die, so whatever it takes to get it back on track and growing again, i say must be done

I really don't think we should change it, Online Brawl Community was how we started, and it seems right to keep it that way. We haven't dropped Brawl, it still has several portions of the forum dedicated to it. I don't see why we need a name change, it's like killing our birthright, and it isn't helping my psyche much if we do this right after having the old site go down. Do you really want to change the known, a common fear of many, all due to the fact that Brawl isn't the only thing, just the main thing.

That's just it though. Brawl's mainstream influence has decreased substantially as of late. Less and less people are playing it or have interest in it.

This change is basically saying we accept Brawl's decline, so we're opening the floor for other games to see if another one gets popular. That way this forum can continue to exist. More than likely, Brawl won't be the main thing anymore on this forum.

We discussed this in chat, but I'll post it here. I was just looking through the original obc site (this is the third iteration). It was basically focused entirely on competitive online brawl. There was very little discussion of other games, and very little socialization. It was really a community about online brawl competition, hence Online Brawl Community.

The community we have now is based almost entirely on socialization. There is very little actual competition. And while this socialization is a lot of what I like about this site, it's not enough to hold it together and to allow it to expand. It needs a focus of some sort, and given the original purpose of this site it seems appropriate that that focus would be competition.

Now, I believe that to form a community centered entirely around competitive online brawl was realistic when this site was formed, but that that is no longer the case. Brawl can be played competitively but it's not a truly competitive game, as evidenced by the fact that this site, once having hundreds of active members, eventually died out. Thus, if we want this community to have a competitive focus, the focus cannot be on brawl alone.

Now, of course, a shift in focus does not necessarily have to entail a shift in the name of the site, but I believe it should. To continue to call this site the Online Brawl Community is not only misleading, but it also holds the site back from expanding, in my view. A BlazBlue player looking for some competition, upon coming to this site, would assume that this site doesn't suit his/her needs based on the name. Yes, "brawl" is a synonym of "fight" but concerning online fighting games it's very easy to assume it just refers to SSBB. And thus I think we should change the name of this site.

And for those who think we shouldn't change due simply to nostalgia, or because you believe that we would be breaking connections to the original community or something along those lines, the site we will be creating will not be something entirely different. We will start off with the same people we have now. Brawl will still have a section on the site. We will still have the same community. The only difference is a different name and a different site.

We need this change in order for the community to continue and to grow.

Hmm... Fizz, you've got an excellent point. I know when I'm wrong, and I'll admit it. However, we DO need a catchy new name, I'm not particularly fond of the above ones. I like the Online _____ Community, we just need to decide what should go in the middle.

Plus that's how Smogon University got its name. xD

Edit: I actually like Evoli. Reminds me of the name of some sort of fantasy world. Which is kind of cool. Plus backwards it's iLove.

I kind of like this too but I've been thinking for awhile and I can't think of anything to go in the middle that sounds good and fits what the site will be. Ideas anyone?

You guys, I've heard several names that I like but we can't go ahead with the switch without any feedback first. So please, say if you like a name someone has suggested, and if you don't like any of them, suggest one of your own.

We're trying to go for something less general. "Gaming" could mean anything but the new site's supposed to focus on fighting games in particular.

Haha, I don't support war in a large majority of cases but they're games, which I'm fine with. lol.

But we're changing to a more general fighting game site because we can't really stick with just brawl, and that's the type of game that the majority of the members play.
